I've got this oil leak coming from the seal in between my vacuum pump and my power steering pump. Its a pretty good leak too. I took it to Enterprise Enginge Performance and Doug confirmed that was the leak. I took to dealer to fix and the had to diagnois it. After diagnoising it, they said DC won't let them just fix the seal (basically a $. 30 O-ring) told them they would have to put 2 new pumps on it. Vac pump- $1100. 00 and PS pump- $308. 00. Dealer mentioned that the reason being is it is possible for the shaft to have a spot owre in it form the Seal being blown. I then called Doug and he said he can fix it a lot cheaper which is fine for me, I prefer Enterprise to work on my truck. Is it possible that I could fix it? Would Cummins have the part for that (the O-ring) and how hard is it to do? I am somewhat mechanically inclined but I am wondering if this is more of a job than I want to encounter. ALL ADVICE AND TIPS ARE APPRECIATTED.

You can do it your self if you have patience. you will have to dis assemble it and get the number off the seal. Make sure you use a Vitron seal. That is what is in it. The seal will be less than $30. 00 bucks and can be ordered by any seal and bearing supplier. Be carefull. The assembly is aluminium and the shaft and adapter plate inside are steel. If you goof the housing up(aluminium) you are hosed. The factory manual has a drawing of the unit dis-assembled. Good luck.

I just had mine replaced by Cummins South for $160. 00. Part of the charge was to put die in the oil to determine where the leak was comming from. I would expect that the charge would be less than 100. 00 just to replace the seal. The extra charge was worth it because they found another leak on the valvecover that I did not know that I had. I fixed that myself. The power steeringleak had me worried because it started leaking all the sudden and the leak was not a small one.
