:( oil seal in vacuum pump went out at 66,000. Not covered by 100,000 warranty and cant be repaire; must replace entire pump. Dealer wants @ $3,000.

Checked with Cummins and can get pump for $1100 and $350 to install.

I think its deffinately time to get rid of this beast. These truccks are nothing but a large hole in which to pour tons of money. :(

I had no idea the pumps were that expensive, holy *****!

And I thought there were pump rebuild kits available for the pumps... with new seals, etc.

You can get a rebuild kit from Cummins it includes the rear(the one that leaks), the seal in the middle, the one for where it attaches to the block, and instructions to do it. it takes about an hour to do. If you want I can get the part # for it, some Cummins dealerships don't know about it. Also there is a guy on Ebay that sells rebuilt pumps for $379.

Not true. . it can be repaired...

Go to http://www.fixinrams.com/ , get thier seal kit and do it your self. It is real easy to repair... I did it on my '01 and it cost about $65 a few years back- it comes with video and tools.

Go to Cummins and the seal kit is about $9, go to Dodge and the same kit with a Dodge part number is about $60, either way it's alot cheaper than a new pump. If your dealer questions the seal kit, tell them there is a TSB on it.
