hooked up my new valet switch from piers tonight and went for a test run and there is no change between the on and off settings. do i have to adjust anything on the switch to bleed off more air. i hear it clicking when i flip the switch, i still get 40lbs whether it is on or off. help

That's weird...

Maybe your AFC is goofed up somehow... (pre valet install) no boost leaks from the head to the AFC, right?

It's an incredibly simple setup... all you are trying to do is block boost from getting into the AFC housing. This keeps the AFC's diaphragm that controls the rackstop right where it would be at idle all the time... and should keep the rack from going forward much at all.

the leak is a possibility, when i installed my 0 plate over a year ago i torqued the screws down to piers specs and the one stripped out and has since vibrated out. i haave been meaning to retap that hole and put another bolt in it but since i dont know the original size and i dont have a tap set yet i have put it off. maybe i will get off my a$$ and get that done. thanks for the replys.

The plate holes as well as the housing holes for the AFC are M6x1. 0 pitch.

If your going to drill the plate holes make darn sure you don't get shaving in the pump, if you anyone ever does the AFC bolts make darn sure you don't drill them too deep... ... long story. If your going to drill and tap the AFC holes for coils, only go as far as the coils need to go!

reinstalled a bolt in place of the one that vibrated out, threaded in fine and tighten up. checked for leaks, disconnectd lines to the solenoid even tried switching them, i did feel air blowing out of the top of the solenoid when the truck was running. guess i will have to call piers on mon. how much should this solenoid donegrade this motor? should it be a noticeable difference in power or boost or could i not be at a high enough hp to really notice it. i am only between 300-350.

When I first installed my valet I too was convinced it was not working. Even now that I am used to driving with it on and off I cannot tell a difference between on and off unless I am 3/4 throttle or better. For me the only indication I had is that the boost climbs much slower past 20psi in low power mode. FWIW - I am also ~350hp. Maybe is is a bigger SOP difference with higher HP.

thanks everyone, i think it is working after reading what everyone wrote i did some more testing and the boost rises slower after 25 and tops out at a little under 35 with the switch off it jumps to 40 fast. so i guess it is working, i thought it cut power by more than that, if i would have known this i wouldnt have bought it. thanks for all the replys.

I to am going to get the valet switch and have heard many different opinions on it and my main reason for wanting it is winter driving up here in Canada and for emission testing. How is the smoke situation after the install? Ontario is pretty picky up here and is said to be the Cali of the north!!! so as much as I want the smoke to roll out of the stacks I also want it to pass the good old emission test!!!

Thanks... Ryan

i didnt notice that much of a dif, still smokes, like i said if i know it was going to be this minimal i wouldnt ahve bought it. going to call today to see if maybe mine needs adjusted or if there is somethign else wrong.
