Got Balls?

No left brake or signal light on trailer

Hi guys

Any body know how Valley hitches compare against Reese or Drawtite.

Anybody own one, like it or not?

Got a chance to pick one up reasonable and thought I'd ask the experts. ;)

TIA again

I have the same as Dave - Bought it in 2001 for my half ton short box, and have moved it twice.

The only thing I dislike is the rails in the bed. If I had a blank slate, I'd get the B&W turnover ball set up. The only drawback with those is if you live and operate in a dirty environment, the release mechanism (for removing the ball) tends to not work if its got a bunch of dirt in it (suprise, huh?).

I got a 15K Valley with slider in March, '99 and transfered it to my '06 when I bought it. Had a couple of minor kinks such as the indicator tab getting bent (my fault). On this trip, I found a small crack in the spacer that serves as hold-down on the pin. I was able to order a replacement head overnight while staying in Van Buren AR. The crack probably could have been welded but since I had over 50K miles on it and it was less than $300, I bought the new one. Overall, I'm happy with it. The bed rails are a nuisance but the turnover ball system won't work with a slider hitch.

I've had my 16k for about 7 years and use it not only for my 5er but to transport RVs as well. It probably has about 100k miles of tow time. Never had a problem with it.

I should also add that I recently purchased Valley's Goosneck adapter plate - it pins right in to the same rails. Worked well for me.
