I am looking at at 96 3500 club cab,180,000 miles on the OD.

All original stock truck, 12 valve 5 speed.

Owned by a lady, used only like a car, bed shows no dents or scrapes, never used for towing, never had a brake controller

installed. Runs good, never had any work done on it. always

a California truck. appearance is good for the age.

needs some TLC. What do you guys think would be a good price.

The guy that has it, bought it to sell, he is asking $7500.

Other than it being a CA emissions engine, that sounds like a bargain, 2 or 4WD. Since it is exempt from CA emissions testing it will sell quickly.

Thanks guys for helping with the value of the truck. It seems to be a good truck.
I was able to get it for 7k, I'm happy.

$7k sounds like a pretty fair price. I paid $6k for my 98 quad cab 2wd with (maybe?) 125k on it last year. The dash was flawless (until I installed a stereo, then replaced the heater core) and it seemed to be in decent shape. Non-quad cab would be worth less to me (I have a toddler) as would the older interior, but the 80 rear end and lower miles/better shape would be worth more.

Open the hood and look up. There should be a sticker near the latch showing the options. A 3500 comes with a D80 rear axle.

I think you got a good deal. I paid 7k for my 97 club cab 2 wh drive. It needs 800. 00 worth of paint work on roof and top of front fenders. About 150k and lots of extras. I too, am happy. Tim

Tim1, I was real lucky to find this truck.
When I changed the oil I saw it had a mopar filter on it so I thought it might have been dealer serviced.

I went to the dealer in riverside and got ten years of service records printed out. I could not be more happy.

Missouri Mule, The dealer records show this truck about four years ago had the engine front case replaced.
At a cost of over $5000. So I don't think I should any more problem there.

Just because they replaced the cover, doesn't mean they tabbed the pin. Sometimes dealers do only what dodge instructs them to do! Tim

That depends on if they used the new style case that covers the dowel pin. Neither Dodge or Cummins will admit that the KDP is a problem (even though Cummins changed the case) so taking the fix for granted could get expensive.

I am sure that they used the new and improved gear case cover and locktited all the mounting bolts behind the gears, wink, wink. Tim
