I have a 96 Doge Ram 2500 CTD I purchased in june of '03 (4 months ago), and I have no service records so I don't know if or when the valves were adjusted, but the truck runs great. Is that something I should worry about? The Dodge dealler told me I should have it done, but no hurry (they said if I did in the next 3-6 months I should be fine (they did some recal work on it, and test drove it). Should I do it sooner? IS it easy to do? I'm pretty mechaniclly inclinded (have a degree in Auto mechanics from ITT tech, but no real Diesel experience). Any tips on adj. the valves? How do I turn the engine over to get it on TDC?

It's not that hard--Same as any valve lash adjustment.

If I remember right, you need a 22mm socket to turn over the engine with the alternator pulley nut, a 15mm for the valve covers, 14mm for the adjuster locknuts, as well as a screwdriver and feeler guages.
