For those of you that have replaced the governor pressure solenoid and governor pressure sensor in you 47re trans (or for any others that know without having done the job)- does the valve body have to be removed to replace the solenoid and sensor?

From what I’ve seen, it looks like only the governor body has to be removed, but the VB can remain installed. Is this correct?

I’d like to know how much time I should set aside for this project…

THANKS

Nope, the valve body does not have to be removed to replace the sensor and solenoid. Just drop the pan and there you go. You will need an 11mm or 7/16 socket for the 4 bolts holding the VB and sensor brakets and a t-25 torx bit to remove the 2 t-25 screws to finish removing the braket. After everything is re-installed hand tight, torque the t-25 screws to 35 inch lbs and the 4 (11mm-7/16) bolts to 105 inch lbs. reinstall pan and add fluid... . you should be good to go!
