One is just sand/bead blasted, the other is fully polished, After I stripped it, I started with some 320 grit on a DA sander, then wet sanded with 500/1500 grit. I finished it up with a buffing wheel and then hand polished with Mothers.



Which one do you like the best? As far as under the hood there isn't any other shiny stuff. I'll probably blast/polish my crossover tube depending on what I do to the valve covers; it is already stripped.

Mine are redheaded. But I like the look of the industrial engines. I'll probly paint my donor/crews motor the Cummins beige I think its called.

They don't cost anything, just a little time, when work is slow or at lunch.



They both look alot better than the pictures show, more so the bead blasted one.

But how funny will it look with polished valve covers, and nothing else polished/chrome?? The crossover tube will end up the same finish as the valve covers. May paint the letters black/red though.

Hey that looks good CC. The only problem with the blasted on is if you have a greasy print on it it will be a bugger to try and clean. With the polished one you should be able to wipe it off. Let us know what you decide.

I'll get some pics of them installed in a day or two.



As far as cleaning the blasted one, The fingerprints I've gotten on there already have come off pretty easy with starting fluid. Don't know how easy they would come off if they were on there for a while.



If you look at the polished one, above the bolt hole; you can see where the oil fill plug casting is, I guess for industrial engines. Only 2 of my valve covers do not have this. The blasted one in the pic does not. It wouldn't sand out, it appears to be like that all the way through. Looks much better without.



Right now I have 3 polished and 3 sand/bead blasted on my truck now, still trying to make a decision. It looks a little funny; 1,2, and 6 are polished and 3,4, and 5 are blasted, guess I need to move a couple.



I think after I finish the crossover, I'm going to paint the "Dodge Ram" black, and the "Cummins Turbo Diesel" red, should look pretty cool
