I finally got my valve cover done and on the engine. I had to weld the back of the valve cover breather closed, then tapped it with 1/2 inch pipe thread and installed a fitting for a breather hose. I'll let you know how it goes after i drive it for a while. Sorry it took so long guys, I was beginning to run out of ideas for the breather and decided to weld it closed and make my own. Check out the pictures in my gallery. I hope they came out ok.

Breather

Hope your breather design has an internal baffle to prevent liquid oil from leaking out. All you really want is to vent crankcase pressure and a fine oil mist if any is present in this area.

the valve cover came with an internal plastic sheild over the breather hole, nick, the valve cover in that picture i believe has the same breather set up in the back of it so you might have the same problem i did. anyone think this will void the warranty? hmmmmmm i wonder

jstabilka,

Beautiful job. You could probably make a few bucks selling those if it works out. Might it have been possible to fabricate an aluminum blocking plate instead of welding the breather hole?

i tried making up a aluminum plate about 3/8 of an inch thick, there just wasn't enough space between the firewall and the back of the head. it's really tight back there. i was out hot roddin' around and no problems with oil coming out the breather. so far so good.

Looks fantastic my man!!! BTW, how do you like that Banks intake horn? They've always looked cool, but people seem to have mixed emotions about them.

thanks alot, i like it too. looks alot better than the original cover. i like the banks intake, all i can say is with my tst on 5-5 it accelerates so hard it almost scary, i love it. just wish i could get a couple hundred more rpm's out of the motor. i get to top speed on onramps to the highway before i get on the highway. any ideas on getting more rpms out of it?

why not fabricate a puke tank on the firewall (small aluminum tank), with the crankcase connected to the lower part of the tank, and the vent to atmosphere at the top of the tank? That way, any oil is collected in the tank and will drain back to the valve cover. . nice set up.

great job jstabilka :)

The breather. . . when I was starting to do mine all I did was get a cast 90-deg brass elbow. With minimial grinding/filing the piece pushed into the hole real nice and tight, and then I screwed a short 4" PVC plastic pipe into that. Then all you would have to do is get 1" diameter heater hose for the blowby tube to slip and clamp over the open end of the PVC pipe.
