Nothing other than you coulda had 'em cheaper. I too made the same mistake prior to joining the TDR
Now I am slowy but surely gaining knowledge. When I bought my Dodge I didn't know anything about diesels. I had just heard the reputation of the Dodge/Cummins combo because all my buddies were getting them.
I purchased my gaskets at the dealer and installed them in 30 minutes. The only thing is you have to leave the 4th and 5th valve cover off to get the 6th off I believe Can't remember if I had the 4th off too or not. Just takes a simple rachet and socket and a little bit of time. Just go ahead and plunge in you'll do fine.
Just one thing, When I buy another set I will seal them to the covers. I got a new "gray" set from Cummins and there nice when there new, but when you pull the covers to run the valves they don't like to stay in place and seep a little.
if you turn them over and look inside, the oil runs down the inside and is allowed to seep right into the seal. a few times removed and they start leaking. there needs to be a lip inside the cover to protect the seal from the rundown or like you said glue them onto the cover to prevent this.
has anyone done this? if so did you then have trouble with te seal to the head not beeing as good?
I think i will use some monkey snot on mine and give it a whirl
never buy parts from a dealer <- unless your wellness or safety depends on it
