Why is the forward part of the valve cover raised on the newer models?

It covers the crankcase breather filter and it just looks purdy.

Yep. No more drippy draft tubes on the '03's. We have entered the next phase of the Emissions Zone.



At least the crankcase smell stays mostly out of the cab.

where do the crankcase vapours vent to? are they burned off by the engine? or are they just vented through a filter into the atmosphere?

Through a steel tube, down the left side of the engine and into the cab. Just kidding, but I suspect that is where the smell comes from at times. It vents to the atmosphere.

There is a small tube going up to the box on the top then there is a bigger one going from that back down the side to be a road draft tube. get under and look on the left side of the block and you will see the tube
