Lately I've been hearing what sounds like vlave noise or possibly timing advance/retard noise in my '03. Can only be heard as the engine drops RPM's, like between shifts or after a quck stab at the throttle as it drops back to idle. An example is if I rev it out to 2k, then let off the throttle, it will make the noise briefly about 3 or 4 times before it comes back down to 750 RPM, like the timing is advancing then retarding. It just started as I crossed over 70k miles; haven't added any mods, and no CEL or codes.

Sounds similar to mine, is it more pronounced when cold? I'm thinking that with 188k hard miles and running stacked boxes, mine might be in need of new injectors itself.

Mines been doing it for a while... if you place a screw driver or mechanics stethescope on the crossover tubes for the injectors, they will be very noisey. I agree with MMeier, probably just "worn" injectors... however, I'm not sure whether it is a problem or not as I have read a lot about it recently.

So could this be considered normal? Meaning it isn't something to be concerned about? I forgot to mention in my original post that it is definitely more pronounced whren cold, but is always there warm or cold.

I have 50k on my noisey injectors... this truck hasn't been quiet for a while now... I'm not going to worry about it until it breaks.
