Well I've got the update kit now, what tool did you'll use to get the back 4 out, I have a bar type used on gasser motors and looked at a KD2078 at O'Relliys today and I'm not sure if it will clear the top of the fire wall, I'm going to install them this weekend! My just get the tool and see if it works!

It's been in the TDR before, a couple times. Most recently #36, p. 126. You need the KD tool with the removable plastic handle--sort of like the knob on a gas cylinder. It is a screw type with two hooks that fit on the spring. Build up a dam with rags etc. so if a keeper jumps out it won't go far or worse get swallowed by the engine

Thanks Joe, I guess I had a memory laps! I knew I had read something about it before, guess I need to keep that book handy and tab the work stuff.

magnet

Jim, what Joe said, and a little pencil magnet can be a real life saver. When lifting the spring off the stem, I always let the spring drag on the stem until I can get my finger on it to hold it, get spring out of way, then holding stem, lower valve and make sure it touches piston(stops) then let go of valve. Knew someone that didn't have engine quite at wrong spot and almost lost valve down cylinder:eek: I just try to thwart Murphy's Law every chance I get. ;) Good luck

Thanks, guys! The install went well with no problems, It was a little intimidated until I did #1, I learned to roll it over to TDC then compress the spring so there is slack the slowly roll it over and watch the valve raise up. I was careful and did this on both as a set then move to the next (example: #1 then #6 it companion) by the time you get to 3 and 4 you saying this is too easy, I'm just so use to airing the cylinders up on gassers. Went back and re-adjusted the valves last night as they were tappin just a tad, found 3 out of them out of specs but no loose nuts. I hate those nice new gray gaskets
