Hi, I have a 97 3500 dually and have had trouble accessing the inner rear valve stems in the past. What kind of stem extensions or adapters are being successfully used to make this easier?

I have the same year truck, with identical problems. I have bought a couple of extensions, but they won't work on the Dodge. Hope someone has solved this problem easily.
 
What I do is leave the wheel skins off so that I can reach in with a tire gauge. Also I use a long truck two sided gauge. I did use the 4" rubber extender with a clip to secure them the the rim on my 95 and while on a long trip one of them broke and let all the air out of my inside dually. That's when I removed the skins and never put them back. On our trip to Alaska last summer on my 05 DRW, I removed the skins and left them home. They are still off.
 
I'm still useing the 2" plastic extensions that came with the truck. No problems so far. I do have the air chuck made for dual tires.
 
I don't remember the brand name but when at Camping World one time. I purchased steel braided extension and the ends are pop riveted to the center cap for both tires. The only problem I have had is the valve core came lose on one. Makes checking air and filling easy.
 
I don't use extensions for that reason... . valve stems beak off and loose all the air. But I do use the stainless valve caps that allow tire pressure to be checked with removing a valve stem cap. I don't know the brand but I get them at commercial truck tire shops.
 
You can purchase longer brass valve stems from a truck tire shop. They cost between 8 to 12 bucks but are designed to hold over 120 PSI.

The new units, when installed, can be bent to allow easy access for air pressure check. The initial installation cost can be cut if you find an installer that will break-down the tire and install without removing and re-balancing the tire/wheel assembly.

If you rotate the inner tires then this won't work for you unless you install them on the outers and use a dual foot chuck. Mike
