Valves

Need advice on when to have valves adjusted. I usually have them done once a year but this last year I have only run 8500 miles. The old cummins is running just fine. Is once a year ok, to much or 24000 as the manual says?

I was told by the mechanic who adjusted mine that it depends. If they are out when you adjust them then keep the interval. Mine were fine at 24,000 miles and was told that he would just be stealing my money if I didn't wait for 48,000 miles before the next adjustment.

I had mine checked & set for the first time in 1999 at 69,000 km and they were fine. Personally from now on I will stick to the manual.
