Valvolline 15w-40 oil at Napa

Napa conventional oil/ATF+4 on sale

My 2017 Ram 5500 motor made in 2017 and my 2020 motor home with 2019 International MV607 with a 2018 motor. My 2017 seems to come with 15W 40 and my 2018 Cummins motor manual recommends 15W40 for overall durability and 10W30 for economy. I played and replayed the Motorhome thru my head until improved durability won out.

I'm not hard over on it but Southwest temps make me steer towards 15W40

Anyhoo, that's what I've made out of it.

Cheers , Ron

I am surprised 10w30 is an acceptable grade for your engine Ron. The 2017 qsb6.7 manual I have states 10w30 is only acceptable in arctic conditions. It gives a temperature range but I don't recall what specifically off the top of my head.

FCA manual doesn't mention it for my 2017 but 2018 Cummins manual does. Just found the wording interesting Cummins used to make the electio

That is what I'm referencing also, a Cummins book not fca. I'll post a pic later for comparison.

Almost forgot. A few quick shots before I head out the door

Will try n fix pics later. This is for a 2017 6.7 - notice the recommendation of running synthetic oil - "consistently operating in temps below -13F". Little different than the Ram literature.

Nick, sorry for getting into the weeds on your thread

Valvoline premium blue, until 8/31/21, has a Farm store promotion. $5 a gallon rebate or $20 rebate for a three gallon purchase. My local farm store is Rural King and premium blue is $14.99. Ask for a price match with Napa's sale and pay $7.33 a gallon.

Finally got around to posting pages from my 2018 Cummins manual:

Interesting the manuals are a little different, but seem to say the same things.
