I am sure this has been covered before, but decent oil? I am not gonna go synthetic, wondered if anybody here has any experience with this oil in a 12V as far as samples?

I'll let you know in about another 5k when I do an oil change and analysis. Started with it last oil change so don't have info yet.

I bought 10 cases of it last year when Flying J had it for half price. 13 oil changes later at roughly 5000 miles each I have had no problems. Of course I have also used Rotella T, Mobil Delvac and Super Tech oil from Wal-Mart with no problems. As far as I'm concerened a bigger priority is a quality filter. I use Fleetguard StrataPore #LF3894.

This is what I use. It has at least two good things going for it:

- Its made by Valvoline.

- It says Cummins on the bottle.

In all seriousness, the comment about using a high quality filter is very valid. All of the name brand diesel oils are very good.

I was fortunate enough to go to an ISB training class back in the early 90's and it was taught by the legendary Service Engineering Manager for Cummins, Bill Stahl. He is a great guy and very technical. He told us about Cummins Premium Blue in that class and I have used it in my '01 and my '03. He drives/drove a Dodge so he really knew what he was teaching...

Regards,

Louis

You can still get Classic Blue (CI-4+) in 5 gallon pals. I just ordered thirty gallons at NAPA. I haven't got a call that I can't get it anymore. I got 25 gallons a few years ago so I gonna restock before it's gone.
