Over the weekend, I changed the oil/filter and ALSO installed the ValvoMax drain plug that has been waiting in the shop.

I had wrestled with the decision as to whether to buy the Fumoto or EZ Drain from Genos, but settled on the ValvoMax and I am extremely happy with that decision!!! Bought the M12 x 1.5 version directly from ValvoMax, which includes the drain attachment, which is also made from stainless. Also got 10% off by signign up for their emails which let me include an extra drain hose attachment for no cost.

The ValvoMax is simple and well designed and is machined completely from 304 stainless. It uses an aluminum compression washer to seal against the oil pan when first installed.

I carefully measured before installing it and confirmed that the nipple does NOT stick up past the inside bottom of the pan, like some other designs do, thus allowing for complete oil drainage, as much as the OEM drain plug.

It also does NOT hang far below the pan, staying well above axle height.

It uses a spring loaded ball bearing "valve" that pushes up as you finish screwing on the hose attachment that comes with it. This design allows for full flow as well as a clean catch …JUST what my Urologist ordered.

It also uses both an O ring and flat washer to seal the cap against the drain plug, so along with the ball bearing seal, it is TRIPLE sealed with the cap on… NOTHING to worry about there.

Obviously, installation was a no brainer…after draining the oil from the Cummins overnight, I simply slipped the cap, cap retainer and cap o-ring from the ValvoMax body, then screwed it into the oil pan with the compression washer that came with it. I torqued it snuggly to the OEM specs of 40 foot pounds with a 24mm deep socket, then slipped on the cap retainer, cap o-ring, and the cap back on it.

Of course, I also replaced the filter and refilled with 3 gallons of Delo 15-40.

While I haven't used it yet, the easy to screw on hose attachment also seems very well made and will definitely prevent the spill and spatter from the 3 gallons of coal black oil that the mighty Cummins can spit out during a hot oil drain.

Pics or it didn't happen—

I worked in a 700 vehicle fleet where we used that sort of setup. Each mechanic was issued a quick connect drain hose..
pretty good system, not messy and no more stripped rain plugs.

I have a Fumoto on mine. It works well too.

Yes they all seem to work to help make oil changes easier.

That said, I do like the ValvoMax particularly due to the larger size of the ball bearing valve, the fact that it drains completely from the bottom of the pan, its low profile and robust construction and the triple "just in case" sealing arrangement.

Im fact, think that maybe Genos should carry them as an option, as they are in fact a US Veteran owned company as well.
