I'd greatly appreciate some feedback on how well folks have liked their Van Aaken 3. 1 box. Have their been any problems associated with this box? For those who tow, what power level do you predominately use? What other mods are suggested when using this box?

Thanks!

Steve

I've had mine stacked with a TST for over 2 years, with no problems, i mostly only use the low setting, for towing it gives good kick.

It also make a good full time boost fooler on or off.

I have the 3. 1, stage 2 AFE, four inch exhast,x-monitor, 285's, Amsoil through out and a bypass filter,2 inch leveling kit, VB,rear air bags all on a 2004 California 235hp , Quad cab 4x4, with a auto. I pull a 32 Alumascape.

I get a small tubro bark once in a while on the 2-3 up shift under slight load, on the middle seting. Not on a regular basis. It gives me just the right power increase and the EGT's are not out of hand. But you do have to watch them on a long hard pull. I have seen them get up to 1250 and I then drive by the EGT's. Really mades the truck a pleasure to drive. Not a great horsepower increase but enough you know you have added something. The 69 Buick GS 400 in the shop is Fast with Class ( 500 hp ) So the speed thrill is satisfitied other wise.

Steve,

As the others stated, the box is a mild power increase... totally safe though. It's a pressure box, but maintains rail pressure within specifications. Enhances the previously programmed fueling curve/pressure. I've been running it for about two months now and really like the how the box works... smooth acceleration throughout rpm range.

I can't speak to EGTs as I have yet to install gauges (my next project). Although based on info from many others, EGTs are manageable with this pressure box. From time to time, I've seen these for sale in the TDR classifieds... EBay too... you may save a little money. In fact, I bought mine used from a TDR member. To my knowledge, these boxes are very reliable.

The increase in power is perfect for me as I'm more concerned about fuel efficiency than brute power. So I just needed a little boost up from stock . My fuel mileage has increased just slightly on the medium setting, and hasn't decreased any on the high setting. I tow a 29' Holiday Rambler Alumascape that weighs in at 10K pounds and really like the little improvement in power/torque. Too, this mild increase has less adverse effect on the running gear of the truck.

You may want to open up the air intake and exhaust to get maximum benefit from the fueling box. Hope this info helps. Take care.
