Doug-

If you can drive, swing by my place Thursday evening. I'm putting plug wires on a buddies 'Vette. We can drill your manifold for the pyro and you can practice some 12 oz curls with us.

100 Proof

Doug,

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Just wait until you have your gauges in, that drunken glee will pick you up a bit.

I would be leary of that 100 Proof guy... . By his handle, it isn't beer that you will be drinking over at his place. You will be so drunk off the shots that your gauges will end up mounted on your steering wheel.

:D

Hey! I just drilled and tapped the hole. He's on his own for wiring and gage mounting. ;)

Turns out he doesn't drink. I was forced to drink his beer for him. As far as putting plug wires on a 'vette... . #@$%! I sure am glad my truck don't need no stinkin' plug wires!!

Extra beer

100 Proof,

Glad all went well and you were able to help out Doug.

I'm sure it broke your heart to have to drink the beer ya had reserved for him.

He had all the lines run before he got there I thought. He should have them up and going today.

Mr. DLeno, First of all, Thank You, for all Your posts regarding the different "boxes" that are available to us. I appreciate all the information You have passed-on to us, also. I have an '03,HO, 6-sp, 3. 73. , with an A. F. E. Pro-guard 7 System and a 4" Magnaflow muffler, and a X-Monitor (pyro & boost). I'm not interested in making a "rocket sled" out of my truck, just a little more power than stock, primarily for towing. I had, originally, planned on an Edge EZ until I heard about the VA Duration box. I was all set to buy the VA until I started reading, on the TDR, about this box setting a code. (Do You know what this code is?) Initially, I thought this box might be the answer because it did not raise the "rail preasure". Now, because of the "code", I am not sure. Would I be better-off using the Edge EZ and just taking it easy? Any thoughts You may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, in advance, for Your help. Joe. PS- Is there another choice, in boxes, that I should be considering?

Buffalo,

I like the VA duration box I installed. Has been flawless, except the one code. That code may or may not hurt anything. Someone should be contacting them about it - perhaps it needs a programming change or something.

yippie! 100proof you're a good guy and I owe you lunch. now the box(s) are fun and I can play and experiment. At least with EGTs -- boost bolt hasn't arrived yet from Genos.

and now my exhaust manifold shows evidence that is has been raised to at least 560 degrees. check out a temper color chart some time to see what I mean. Mine has blue on it now.

yup, I have all the electrical stuff hooked up.

I have lots of box fun (VA and Quadzilla) to report which I will do in new threads. this one is getting kind of long.....

Buffalo -- I don't quite have this code thing figured out. When I get a chance I'll experiment some more, but the last time I tried that I couldn't reproduce the code! The code itself is really not anything to worry about. It is a generic ECM fault that it doesn' give any useful information. Frankly I would not let this code thing bother you. if you get it during install, go to Autozone and clear it! Blakers is right -- the code does nothing. Its just a generic ECM fault that gets set during the install process. the box itself does not "set a code", so no worries about that.

One thing you can do to minimize the probability of getting the code is to make sure and hook up the VA switch and turn it to the off position when you install. no guarentees of course, but thats the only thing I did different when I tried unsuccesfully to get the code by re-installing my VA.

remember - the VA does not "set" a code. you get the code as a consequence of the install process. once cleared, it does not come back.

BTW, The VA runs a bit hot on a stock truck but it looks like you have enough air for it. In fact,. with stock air, I can hit 1250 degrees pretty easily. I'll post more results in a new thread.

BTW, I am really liking the VA in combination with mild pressure. I tried the Quadzilla on its 50HP setting stacked with the VA duaration box on its mid level setting, and boy is that ever a good combination.
