My truck was chosen out of a lineup tonight to be the proud bearer of the f word in black rustoleum on the passenger door. I don't know if I have ever been more ******. Luckily I had about five guys over and a couple girls. The girls and i cleaned off the paint with some light mineral spirits and 409, looks ok for now... The guys took off searching while we did this, and I get the call,

GET OVER HERE WE GOT THE *******!!!

The pd showed up, said come here little *******, read him his rights and took him away. Evidently this is a felony, and hell be in jail.

That is great that the guy got caught. When I was in college, I had a Chevy 4x4 that still had a decent paint job considering I took it off road alot etc, wasn't anything special but it was all I had. One morning I noticed that somebody wanted to show off or something and keyed the drivers side door for about 2 feet while it sat in my apartment parking lot. Now I am PARANOID about my red bundle of joy.

Messin' with a man's truck is like horse stealing. When caught they should be hung.

Cool that you found the little p. o. s. , and better that you're not in jail for murder.

Some things are justifiable, but the law don't seem to see it that way.

AMEN to that brother!!! I'm all for a tall tree and short piece of rope justice :D Even better yet might be "trial by the local TDR club" where the members are the jury and decide on the punishment

Had a similar situaion many years ago. I highly recommend that you use a good cleaner, then polish, and then several coats of wax on the area. If you don't the area that you have used the chemicals on will dry out and get a chalkly appearance.

Hope that there are no long term effects.

The amount of time he spends in jail depends on how long it took his Mommy to come bail him out, and I bet Mommy showed up before the kid every hear the bang of the door behind him. Its probably a first offence, the judge will sentence him to "sending you an "i'm sorry" letter and a slap on the wrist.

My RV dealer buddy said Pam Oven cleaner works good, but it sounds pretty costic if you ask me. he bought a truck with some Contractors name painted on it, Pam took it right off. Of course there was some discoloration where the sun had bleached the paint that was not covered by the letters.

If you keep a good coat of wax on the truck, any situations like that are much easier to clean.

Even those paint marks from parking lot morons and their doors will usually come off.

Of couse it won't prevent dings and dents (that's why I park in the boonies and walk).

I too park at the back of parking lots though the more isolated your truck, the better chance that your rig will get vandalized by *******s like this. :(

The officer said it was not his first offense, so he would not be as quick to get out. Yes, I was lucky I didn't have a gun at the time. Good news, is I do have a good quality coat of wax on the truck, called permashield or something. It's the one at the auto show they dump acid on the paint.

Now that all has been said, we used mineral spirits lightly to loosen up the fresh paint, then we used 409 over that to get it all off, then rinsed it with a clean bucket of water, and this morning im going to the full serve car wash to get the best wash possible.

Do you guys think my baby will be ok?

I know how you feel, Last week I park my truck in front of my fire station. Came back out after 2 hours to get my gear and found that someone had taken the valves out of 2 of my tires. Just proved no where is safe from these people.

In addition.....

Should have been beaten for being traitor if you had a big ole American Flag on the back of your truck. JMHO.

But you did the right thing.

oven cleaner

Oven cleaner works good with paints that don't use a hardener. Normal buffing compound can scour it off too without doing the damage of a thinner. Mineral spirits are kind of oily, and shouldn't hurt the paint surface. Your trim and its adhesive will be damaged though.

Right after you shoot their a$$es. In the great state of Texas, the use of deadly force to stop nighttime theft or criminal mischief (vandalism) is allowed.

Wow, my opinion of the second biggest state in the Union just went up several notchs. :D

Too bad you didn't kick the crap out of the SOB before the law showed up. "Gee, officer, I don't know what happened to his face. He looked like that when we caught him. " With at least 2 of you there, it would have been hard for him to contest.

Maybe just as well, though.

You probably should clarify that,, "ANY Repeat members"

Sorry 'bout the truck,, But, How did your friends catch him? Was he walking down the street? Vandalising another Piece of property? How'd they know it was him?

I like hearing stories of how people got caught.

Considering the paint used, I would suspect he was caught ... black-handed. :)

Dang... you were too cool about it. . when I caught someone who was supposed to be my friend letting the air out of my tires back a few months ago, I flew off the hook... while he went to get his backup, I proudly started up a CATERPILLAR 320B L Series Excavator, and proceeded to 'block' him in his parking spot! The revenge was priceless!! They did not have Cat Keys, nor the balls enough to apologize to me, so I thought I would take it into my own hands, and get the last laugh... as I shut off the machine, I proceeded to call the kid's father, and let him know what his worthless son was doing. when I drive by the guy now, he will not even look my way. I thought it was a Pretty shallow thing of him to do, due to the fact that growing up, I stuck up for him when people made fun of his studdering problem. Like I said, I got the last laugh here, and I do not know how they got the truck out, cause as soon as that excavator was behind the truck, and the arm was in front, snug as could be, I was off like a prom dress! Mean? No. Payback? Hell yes!
