Tinted Glass

Some SOB (or a group of SOBs) decided to have some fun vandalizing my neighborhood last night. Aside from the usual mailbox destruction stuff (including mine) one of them decided to throw a large flowerpot, complete with dirt and plants, at my passenger side truck window. They went out of their way to come down my driveway to do it too. The window held but it is scratched up and I have a ding in the door and some scratches there too.

My question is, can the scratches in the window be removed? Is this something an autoglass company could do for me?

Sorry to hear about that, this kind of thing @isses me off!!!!!

I had some scratches in a window I tried some stuff I bought at a body shop supply house and it helped a slight amount. So I then went to a auto glass installer, and for FREE they buffed the window out with some sort of goop, it took a few more of the scratches out but some still remained.

Sorry I don't remember the name of the products, but this happened about 14 years ago.

There are companies (Eastwood) that sell kits to remove scatches from glass. By the time you buy everything you need you could have replaced the glass for the same $. Most of the glass polishing kits tell you they will not remove anything but very fine scratches. :D

Well, the autoglass companies I've called said there's not much they can do to tempered glass.

Has anyone tried "paintless dent removal" to get rid of parking lot-sized dents? I have one of those too.

Already got that covered. I certainly wouldn't shoot someone over something like this but I wouldn't hesitate to scare the crap outta them. A 30-06 is awfully loud in the middle of the night.

If they get caught, which I doubt they will, I would like their sentence to be a few hundred hours of community service. It'll give them some quality time to think about what they've done and will also keep them busy doing something useful for a change.

But I sure would like to get rid of the dent and find a way to de-scratch my window in the mean time.
