i believe air is being introduced somewhere. i have heard from a mechanic it's at the fuel sending unit on top of the tank (possible) and i've heard from others it could be a washer or an o-ring at the injectors (also possible).

since i'm putting on the vulcan kit, i'm also going to put on a manual valve before the lp (anti-theft) device and a valve just before entry to the vp44 (air bleeding).

the other idea was to make a high spot in the line and split it putting something clear (similar to an inline fuel filter or something) to see if air accumulates.

is this reasonable? the point being to narrow down possibilities of where air is coming in.

i don't know your definition of cold. i'm in Texas so anything below 75F is cold. :)

i haven't found a real pattern yet. doing the vulcan is needed anyway and i'm just trying to narrow down the problem areas.

what do you think of the 'viewing glass' idea? is it doable?

The reason I asked that is my truck started hard when warm and it turned out to be my VP-44. After I changed it I havn't had 1 starting problem.
