That would be great. Fairly simple design too. Especially using the wasegate to open it. Could probably adapt the hobbs wastegate design and make it even better.

Could be alot cheaper than the ats turbos too. Great work!

It is made out of a combination of mild steel and unobtanium. Clearances were set using the strict canadian goodn****ntight standards set by piers harry way back when :D. So far it has collected more rust than anything I have ever put in the back of my subaru.

OO have you tried this yet, or is it a past idea that didn't work? I am supprised this isn't getting more attention than it is. I would think this could open up more options for turbos. Maybe I am wrong?

Never did get a chance to test it. I sold off my spare turbo and downpipe and didn't want to take the chance of blowing up my set of twins if something went wrong.

I think the ultimate setup will be the bigfoot manifold with a butterfly valve like RCenters picture but with the center divider milled back about an inch or so. Using drive pressure instead of boost to operate the actuator is another idea but it might carbon up to quick. For the butterfly to be as thin as possible and still hold up to 1800 degrees it will probably have to be made out of material similar to the exhaust valve or turbine wheel.

Who else wants to run a pro52 or hx60 for towing? :D

I wonder how a S4 would like that, guess we will have to give her a try. I am thinking stainless for the butterfly here is one possible option melt point 2600 to 2700 deg F

Or the pyrometer probe breaks of and jams the butterfly shut spinning the turbo up to 400,000rpm,snapping the shaft and sending the compressor wheel schrapnel through the hood while the turbine wheel chews through the downpipe, firewall, and passenger seat. :-laf Just thinking worst case. :D

i just got a bigfoot ATS , and was going to cut some of the middle out , i found another pic of a plate made that uses just one side of the turbine , the guy said it spooled alot better but he didnt say anything about back pressure or EGT , butt i dont it could work on a 17cm or smaller
