VE Fuel Pump adjust Help Needed

Well I accessed the TST website and got some tips to turn up the pump on my 93. When I went out to my truck to perform my magic, I noticed a metal cone shaped cover over the fuel screw. Now, I tried to twist it of with some channelocks but didnt get real agressive with it in case I was making a mistake. Can anybody help me out here with this? What is that thing and how do I get it off? Any ideas?

Some of these pump guys might have a better idea but heres what i did:
I backed the full load screw all the way out
but carefully enough not to lose where it was set.
then i put the collar in a vise, mildly squeezing a little at a time, then rotate 90 degrees and do the same till i could get a good enough bite with some needlenose.
YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY CAREFUL
i munged up the thread a little, but a die took care of that problem.

OK. The cone thing I described, that is a cover over the real adjustment screw, is it not? If so, How do I remove the cone cover?

The little plastic cap?
I used a flathead screwdriver and twisted the screwdriver blade&pryed at it. Didnt harm anything.

Yes my 93 had a metal cap also, a flat screwdriver worked for me also. You can't hurt anything, most don't even use the cap after the adjustment. I did I didn't want the world to know what I did. Good luck

OK. I got the cap/cover off but how do you get that metal collar off so you can adjust the pump screw? There's not a whole lot of room in there to move around.

read my above post,
I backed the entire stud out of the pump unit and put it in a vise.

I was able to cut the collar off with a dremel tool. The dremel was small enough to fit down in the hard to reach place and I just sawed it off. I broke a few blades for it, but it took about 5 minutes. Very easy job with a dremel tool.

That sounds like a great idea. . How much did you turn the screw?
