I am a 24v guy but I am helping my neighbor with his '92 4x4. He has a fuel leak where a small fuel line on his VE pump goes into a cylindrical piece that is attached to the drivers side of the pump. This cylindrical piece has a switch on one end that looks like an oil pressure switch. The fuel line that screws into it is dripping fuel. I loosened the line and re-tightened it but the line still leaks. The ferrul nut on the line seems to bottom out on the fitting.
Question 1) What is the purpose of this cylindrical appendage on the pump?
Quedtion 2)Anyone out there in DIESEL LAND had this problem and what did you find to fix it?
I am going to a Cummins parts house tommorow to order a new line or possable cylindrical casting.
I had a VW diesel with the VE pump and it didn't have that mounted on it. At UPS, we had some 12v cummins powered package cars with the VE pump, with the cylindrical piece on the pump but they never had the wire hooked up to the switch.
Can this thing be removed?
Is there a problem removing the small line with the two sided nut at the pump to repair this thing?
ANY HELP MUCH APPRECIATED Oo. Chris
