I have been told that VE pumps can start leaking after doing some tweaking/adjusting/fiddling. How many have experienced this type of problems with their VE Pump and is it a big issue too fix?

The only Mods that I am planning to do right now are to put on a 16cm turbo housing and some pump tweaking/adjusting/fiddling. With that said, how much tweaking/adjusting/fiddling should I do. The goal right now is to get a little more responce out of the truck and maybe increased fuel mileage. Later on I plan on adding some new injectors and maybe a new turbo, that's the end of my wish list.

Thanks Don

I would say leaking is old age related etc. Was that a pump shop or diesel mechanics opinion?

I am going to venture a guess that the majority of the 1st Gen members here have turned up the VE.

Yes, with the possible exception of Philip ;). And I am still not sure on that, even.

I would tend to agree- it is likely age related, or possibly turning up the pressure pushed the faulty seal over the edge sooner. I have turned up several pumps, and bought a few trucks with the pumps already turned up, and they had no issues. Other stock trucks leaked soon after I bought them. It's crapshoot.
