Hello,

Ok guys, I know this has probably been rehashed many times over but I can't find exactly the info I need, just started this project this weekend and haven't called anyone yet.

I'm in the midst of resealing a leaking VE for a friend(this thing poured when it was cold  ) All was good until I got the cam plate out, it and the rollers are eat, pitted, wore real bad; rest looks ok. very small pieces of metal throughout. The distributor piston looks ok, don't think anything is wrong with it.

I called the guy, and he wants to replace just those parts, if at all possible. Ok by me, but exactly where can I get these parts? Does this sound feasible?? Truck ran great except for leak.

If not I guess he'll get a reman.

I tried finding a listing of Bosch service shops, but cannot seem to find one? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Steven

They sent me a breakover spring and a reseal kit also so I think they could get what you need, they rebuild the VE pumps so they should have parts. I am calling them myself in the morning to see if I can get a spring I need inside my pump.

Steven,

He wasn't in Roanoke when you came up for our meet n greet, but Gerald works for these guys http://www.blueridgediesel.com/ They are the Bosch (and many others) repair facility for SW Virginia. He might be able to get you a good deal.

Good to see you are still alive! I've been pretty quiet this year myself.

Cool, I hate calling places and them giving me the runaround about bench testing and stuff.

I know I know  that's the proper way, but geez can't I experiment a little :D :-laf

I'll have to give him a call.

Oh, yeah. I'm still alive. Aint no Cummins fell on me yet :-laf

Steven, www.scheiddiesel.com is a Bosch dealer and can get you Bosch/pump parts. I should have the parts list to the VE along with the exploded of the VE in a few days. I would be able to supply you some part numbers for said parts. As of now, I only have the exploded view, no parts list/key.

Ok guys, thanks for the help.

I talked to the owner this evening, and I believe he's gonna go with a reman pump, probably be better for him anyway, after all the metal that's been through it. Wouldn't make a difference if it was mine, I could pull the pump as many times as I wanted. He doesn't have any spares, so I'm gonna try to get it going this weekend.

On a side note, he's had lots of problems with the fuel shutoff solenoid failing, always closed. Could these small pieces of metal be jamming the plunger

Diesel Care and Performance; that rlyons posted, has reman units for 695. 00, with a core of 200$ Seems like a decent price. Any chance it would be worth eating the core, for something to play with eh? :D :-laf

Gonna try and get some pics of the rollers and cam.

Thanks

Steven

damn . . how could it get that bad. . thats bad. . man oh man... I have never seen on4e go like that... mummn. .

when he sdoes this one tell him to maybe try a gutted fuel soloniod ie no plunger and use the manual shut off with a cable. . it will stop all those problems you have there with it hanging up closed etc. .

later.

My cam plate was tore up, the rollers pitted, and the advance piston jammed in the housing - on a 1 yr old Cummins reman with about 30Kmi. Both fuel filters were cut open with no noticable problems. Shops told me sometimes they just go, once a metal flakes off the cam plate its all downhill.

Is there ANY CHANCE to get a copy of the Pump Info also? I can find NO info, either locally or "on line". Of course the Dodge dealer will REPAIR anything,... for a price.....
