Gail said that some of you could careless and for me not to post this, I have talked to several of you via Email and I thought not. :)

Gail got tired of rubbing my back during the planting of the now 5 acre vegetable garden + 2 acre kitchen garden we have growing. Our growing season is so short that everything is started in the greenhouse with Grow Lights. Gail built several 2x4 plant stands that hold the grow lights and seedlings. Heat for the Greenhouse comes from his methane gas converter system that uses the same animal poop for heat.

Planting the seedlings when the time came was backbreaking work, this is where Gail hated to hear me cry about my back. So with that in mind he found this system that is a back saver. I don't know that many of you could use something on this scale. We feed 10 homes with our veggies for the entire year, so this is wonderful.

We plant on raised beds, Gail has a rototiller that goes behind the Ford tractor. I think that he talked to some of you about the brand, that makes fantastic garden soil, with our NEVER ending supply of Poop, tree leaves and kitchen scraps for the 8' x 20' compost pile this is spread over the fields and tilled in. My Father made an attachment that goes behind the tiller out of steel, not wood like the one shown it works just as well.

Just thought that some of you would like or maybe? need something like this. I really like these tools.

He did think that Mike W. in Maine would get a kick out of this next link. It took a " Maniac " to figure out this way. It really!! works great. ;)

I havent had a garden is about 10 years. Had a Troy built 8hp tiller.:D
I really miss the fresh veggies, the crap the big stores sell is not the same!

Pretty neat, makes you think about how simple something can be, to help out in the garden , and save on your back, Thanks for the videos, Monte

Your Quite Welcome Monte!!

There's nothing better than working in the garden and then tasting the difference in fresh from the garden vs from the Market, Without being so tired that you cant enjoy it. We are working hard and getting close to sustainable living and self sufficiency. I'm sure that there will be a need for things from the market it just wont be Meats and Veggies or Fruits, if I can keep Gail's Mules out of the orchard. Its amazing how many apples they can eat and spit out the cores.

Its a shame that most of the produce comes for Mexico and South American Countries, they don't always follow safe farming practices. We all know that you cant count on the FDA and other 15 different agencies to do their part in making foods safe.

It is also interesting to note that some of the pesticides that have been banned in this country as carcinogenic and had the labels pulled by the EPA are used seasonally in Mexico and other countries.

There's the problem, better life through Chemistry. We are banned from using some of the pesticides here, but its ok or cant control what other countries are doing. Honduras and Guatemala are some of the worst offenders, lots of fruit come from those two countries. We are still eating them!!!

Sometimes I wish that we would move to a place we could grow Everything we need, we have some friends that live outside of Indianapolis Indiana. They have a spectacular place, but Gail wont ever leave MT.
