Some lubricant manufacturers are looking hard at vegetable oil based lubes and oils. A couple of yeasrs ago I got a small tour of a facility where they were experimenting with the stuff. Kinda neat, but I still prefer the synthetics. .

I don't think veggie oil lubes are anything new. If illflem was still around he could enlighten us on the subject as he hasd some good info on it.

I concur, but certainly not mainstream either.

The Statue of Liberty recently switched over the hydraulic fluids in it's elevators to a soybean based one.

I work for a marine Ferry operator with about forty hydraulic dock ramps and they are all switched over to veg based fluids now. I don't hear any complaints about them. They have somewhat of an advantage as they operate on a short duty cycle. The big benefit is when there is a rupture or maintenance work has to be done.

he had some disagreements awhile ago and decieded it'd be better to go his own way from what I understood of the situtation.
