veggie oil who has started using it??

thanks guys but i'm not really looking for bio diesel whats the point of running it if it cost more right???



i'm trying to look at a cost savings here not just to see what else i can burn in my truck if you follow me.

What;s the point of running it?!?!?!?! Maybe some of us would rather spend out fuel money in this Country, instead of sending it to the Middle east.

Bio has lower BTU but a higher cetane number.



Bio (B100) will yield less MPG's and less power.

No, you can generally expect the same power and fuel economy you're currently getting on diesel. Dyno test have shown that in many cases there is a slight INCREASE in power with Greasel.

Get this, there is only ONE diesel fuel injection pump IN THE WORLD that is NOT readily adaptable to WVO and believe me, theyv'e tried.



Yup, you guessed it. The infamous VP-44.

The hot veggie fuel kills the VP pump. WVO (veggie) must be heated before it reaches the injection pump.

You guys ought not forget Canadas ability to produce rape seed oil (canola). This was originaly designed/grown as a machine lubricant untill some geniuss figured they could make more money feeding the lubricant to the ignorrant masses! Studies have shone canola to be a superior Diesel fuel over soy based fuel. Cost is another issue tho!

I have heard from Charlie Anderson of Greasel about their experiment with the vp44. The failure was in the electronic circuit board & yes, it's the heated oil that hastens it's demise. :{ . It must be possible to mount that little "brain" remotely, like on the wheel well liner. Other than that the truck ran fine.

Haven't heard as much bout Vegie as Bio, sat radio XM171 and Willie Nelson strongly advocate Bio in any blend. While I was running around MT, ID, & NV it was announced that Sapp Bros in IN had B20 5cents a gallon under Diesel #2. This was a week or two affore the $3 buck insanity hit. If I find Bio within $20 a fill I'd break even paying the $20 just considering operating costs. The environment matters to me, the US working class economy matters to me. All those that are worse off now than before need to let their Reps and Congress persons know what they want. I don't know & I don't care has gotten us to where we are. The government is doing for those that are making their desires known. Half this population has never taken the time to vote! Until this changes, Those with the wealth will keep takinggetting more wealth at the expense of those displaying ignorance & apathy.

If anybody figures out how to re-locate the VP-44 electronics let me know, I can get all the WVO I can burn, even thought about getting a 12 valve just for that purpose, just don't know if I want to give up the 24 yet!!!

I wouldn't spend my time or money trying to relocate the VP electronics or pre-heat the WVO. Filter the heck out of it (like down to 2 microns) and just run a small percentage of waste oil to regular D2. Cummins says you can even burn your used engine oil if you keep it below 5%... so there's a good starting point.

As Cooker said you could probably go to 20% WVO especially during the summer months. I've run over 10% myself and couldn't tell the difference... started fine. . ran fine. . and got the same mileage.

With diesel fuel running close to $3. 00 a gallon a 20% savings would drop the cost to $2. 40 gal. All this without buying and installing a separate tank for heated fuel. We are trying to save money. . right?

Anyway there is plenty of reading out there and a lot of studies that show the problems associated with running straight veggie oil in a direct injected engine. Once you cut the veggie oil with diesel fuel though (less then say. . 50/50) most of the problems go away.
