vehicle inspection report!!

well i took my 93 CTD to the inspection station. i thought the only thing was the problem was the emergency brake... . well to my disbelief. i failed!! i mean the only thing i pass was my emergency brake and my emissions good thing i don't have to pass them or well i would have failed them too. .



now here's what what i failed on!:

-turn/warning signal out or missing

-mirror not securely mounted?

-suspension-broken/ excess loosness/linkage?

-white light to rear from plate lights

-license plate light missing/ inoperative

-steering lash?

-marker/clear/reflector:failure?

how bad do u think i failed??

the ones with "?" i haven;t a clue what they are talking bout!

except for the steering... i went to a friends house and we wiggled the wheels and found that the arm that goes from the power sterring box to the rod needs replacing and the bearings that attach the steering to the frame needs replacing. i need the part # or suggestions where to get them!! i only got 45 days

please help!! i know it's a long post! but help!

I would consider a borgenson steering shaft and have a alignment shop check your ball jointd for you

I'd think you shoudl have passed. Ask the guy doing the inspection to point out the things that were actually wrong; not just going by the list of checked boxes. You should be able to contest some of them. sounds like he was after some money for repairs. It's a nice little racket; goes on around here, and people still have crappy vehicles.



I'd think if your mirrors were on the outside securely, the center one in the windshield shouldnt matter. Go in with a camper shell on it and taek the center mirror out altogether.



I'm really suspicious of the white light to the rear- you are supposed to HAVE that plate ID light. You'd fail without it. You got both tage on there securely? That means two bolts, not baling wire (guilty) or one bolt (guilty again).



marker/clear/reflector:failure?- you aint the only one, unless you have a clear bulb in the front turn signal instead of the amber bulb you are supposed to have.



Steering lash is porbably slack in the wheel. DOT requires <20deg, I THINK; could be less, though.



You could get a Colo address; you can even renew by mail. Just put in a forward at the post office, and have the little card sent to your home. Send in the $50 or whatever it is, and you get your stickers in the mail next month. Plus, you can have expired tags for 30 days after the month listed. I have July 05 tags, and have til Aug30 05 to renew them. Oo.



Inspections stink, and are proven to not increase the safety of the motoring public. They need to be done away with; they are just another way for the govt to gain/ exercise control over you, and take more of your money. In other words, legalized stealing. But then isnt that the purpose of having a govt job?

Colorado and Wyoming have good looking women, too. Oo. Stay away from the swamp rats around here, though- they are a little portly, if you get my drift . Ok, they're fat. And ugly. Guess that comes from living of Daddy and/or the husband instead of making their own danged spending money. If I didnt live by the rule of their butt not being any wider than mine... ...



Go to a few rodeos, perferrably as a rough stock rider- the good looking ones come out of the woodwork, then. At least they did for me. Getting back into it as soon as I shed the freshman 30 I packed on in college.

i always thought of moving to Ohio... . but got stung in my left hand by a wasp *curses* it's twice the original size (the hand)..... i think I’m kind-of stuck here to this goes away... my truck is still at work... . could drive her home with one hand *cries* and these TV. shows are driving me up a wall. . and what about the roads... ... almost hit by a tractor today while driving a tractor... not my day,,..... well I say more to it but my right hand needs a break... (and i typed this yesterday but i was to lazy to retype it when my computer signed off)

ok. . my hands better and i got a good look at the fronte end... the struts are shoot... i got 3-4 inchs from the top of the tire to the top of the fender... . my question is do i have to replace the whole thing of do i just need to replace the sping or the shook? and how hard is it the replace them... basically can i replace them myself or do i need a shop to do it. (i believe in safty)

I think it is just a shock to replace like on the rear. Just unbolt it, and put the new one on. It shoudlnt affect ride or safety, though. But then, I've never figured out why you need a horn when it is illegal to use it in some towns. Normally the ones that require you to have it. Man, it's nice to not have to go through that crap.
