Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Velvatized 4 inch exhaust

A friend of mine is going to be installing a "velvatized" 4 inch exhaust on my truck in a few weeks?? Has anyone ever heard of this before. He told me it is a low grade of staneless steel? The price is really good too. I already have a Banks 4 inch downpipe that I picked up on eBay. The rest of the system with a resonator that you can throw a tennis ball through will cost 550$ canadian installed taxes included. I think that is a really good deal. Anyone ever heard of that "velvatized" stuff. He said it is non shiny or a flat colour.

I'd be pretty cautious of what is described a "low grade stainless" - low grade stainless, depending on actual grade, CAN stain and rust pretty much like plain steel...

My buddy works at a freightliner deasership and he personally guarintees that it will last the life of my truck! The 409 stainless kit you are talking about will cost me 440$US. That would be 550$ canadian plus 39$ tax at the border, probably another 25$ brokerage fee, and 50$ for shipping. All said and done it will be over 660$cnadian dollars and then I have to install it! For sure that kit is a good deal but I think I've got a better one! Thanks for the input and I'll post what "Velvatized" is made of if I can find out.
