Is anyone using the Velvet-Ride shackle on the new 2003 Dodge 4x4 3500 dually? Did it lower your truck suspension by approximately 2"?

I'm looking for a method of lowering my truck to increase the clearance between the top of the bed and the bottom of a 5th wheel RV trailer that I plan to buy. If the Velvet-Ride shackle does this and also improves the empty truck ride, it should be a good solution. If you have installed the Velvet-Ride shackles on your '03, I sure would like to hear your thoughts on it.

Also, if there is a more practical method of slightly lowering the truck, I'd like to learn about it.

Thanks, Tom

Welcome to the TDR:D ! I know that on previous model years there was a TSB to fix this problem by removing the large 4"? spacer in the rear and replacing it with a shorter one. Many got it done at no cost. I would imagine that the 03's would have the same type of deal, check with your dealer.

On another note, I have been considering the velvet ride shackles anyway, and if they'll accomplish lowing the truck, the improved ride would make it a good deal. :)

I put the Velvet Rides on my Y2K 2500 hoping it would lower it. It lowered less than an inch. They did help the unloaded ride especially on washboard gravel roads. I am not sure I would spend the money if I had to do it again. I think I would look into the Dodge lowering kit.

I thought that Dodge would lower the height on the new styles, with all the griefs the tall trucks have caused in the past with 5vers and goose necks. I do not think they have lowered them at all. I checked the other day on a SRW 3500 4 X 4 and it was very close to my truck in tailgate height.
