Where can I find a properly vented fuel can, 5 gallon type? It seams someone out there believes that there should not be any type of can that has the vent in the back of the container. Hogwash..... seams they are all being made that way now... ( and they dont work well ) . Help me find some ... . TIA

A traditional vented gas can will release vapor that are volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that react in the presence of sunlight with nitrogen oxides emitted from motor vehicles and industrial smokestacks to form ground-level ozone. :-laf

Uh, ya, what he said...  :-laf

I saw some at Home Depot today that have the vent in the spout. Seems like a good idea. I seem to loose the plugs for the regular vent spouts, or they leak badly when it gets hot out. We had to use those metal ones like Torque This posted. I didn't like them because it was too hard to hold the handle back and get the fuel in the tank.

i left a 1/2 full gas can in my truck bed in the sun and i come out the thing looks liek a damn balloon i pop the vent and it sounds liek damn air brakes prolly not too good

I had to buy 2, 5 gallon plastic cans for the B100 pump. They are the vent-in-the-nozzle type. I can't tip the can at the right angle to completely empty in into my truck. I got a piece of 3/4" hose to make an extension on the spout to empty the can. Well the vent is in the nozzle, so it takes forever to empty a quart w/ the rubber hose on. If the vent were in the body where it belongs, it would be fine.

I just purchased one of the new non-vented type to fill my bike... what a piece of crap (the fuel can that is). Then I bombed the fuel can. drilled a hole in teh rear portion of the top handle, ran a 1/4 x 20 tap in it and I loosely thread a bolt in it. it will keep the fuel from sloshing out, and the thumb screw is easily removed to let the air in and the fuel flow out smoothly instead of the chuga-chuga-chugaa of the "new and improved design" .

I have a bunch of Type 1 Safety Cans, like the picture that Torque This posted, mostly for storing gas for my tractors--I've stored unleaded in them for 2-3 years sometimes and it comes out just as good as when it went in. These are very air-tight, they are not vented containers, but pouring from them is very easy. Why do your containers need to be vented?

I just got done trying to put some gasoline in my cars. The new type that have no vent in the back, they are now in the nozzle, do not work. For me to put gas in the car, I have to transfer fuel from one can to one that I have that has the vent in the back. I also tried just using a funnel and it worked good but much more mess spilling around.

The new type out now has the vent in the nozzle that actually has to be pushed in against something in order to let the gas out. I dont know who designs these things but... . wow. Glad I have a few of the old type that work, and I now use the new type just for storage of gas.

Just wish I could find some of the old type again that work. The ones that I am talking about above are the new plastic kind. I haven't bought any of the type that metal ones yet.

Vented Cans

These are about the only ones I know still left around where I live. The local hardware store sells them still. They aren't cheap but they work like a can should. Only thing I don't like is the nozzle stores inside the can but at least you can poor out of the dang thing and it doesn't leak.

GIT-R-DONE,

The Blitz Kerosene 5 gallon cans I bought have the vent in the nozzle, but it does not need to be pushed against anything to flow. Wally World has them for $6. 62.

I bought 4 of them (the yellow diesel ones) at my Ace hardware store 3 weeks ago for $11. 99 each. $19 online is way to much for them.

I just drilled a little hole in the top handle and wittled down one end of a 2" wood dowel and use that to plug the hole ... works great.

I have 6 of the Blitz 5 gallon cans.

My poor man's aux fuel tank :-laf

Four have the vent on the rear , the two newest ones don't.

I just take the whole goofy nozzle off and, using a funnel, pour straight out of the can.

I use those two first because I know I won't have to try to stop the flow because the tank is getting full.

It's easier to slow the flow with the vented cans with the GOOD spouts.
