well i ordered two sets of ventvisor window shades last week from genos. i put both trucks in our heated shop while we installed them, and kept them in for two days to make sure the 3m adh tape sealed. today, all four came off and are lost forever. lesson learned. guess that 60 dollars should have been spent on something else. id cry warranty, but it would be pretty difficult now.

Packman,

Did you clean the surface with alcohol where you mounted the vent visors?

I`ll bet it was temperature related. If you had installed them in the summer, they would have probably stuck ok.

Just a guess

Were any harsh words muttered when you saw 60 bananas worth of plastic fall off? #ad

yes, i know about the temp limits of the tape and product. thats why our trucks stayed in the shop while the product "cured". we used the alc pads etc . im not going to be crictical of the mnf or the dist, its just that they dont work. our 96 thru 98 trucks have the mopar visors, and out of 8 trucks they have never blown away. there wasnt too much cussing going on while the visors vanished, just us guys going "what was that sound?"

Packman,I've had Vent Visors on 2500 for 5 years now,no sign of cutting lose,I installed mine in the summer though. I like them because you can crack the windows without getting a bunch of air noise. Seems I remember that when I bought some of that 3M tape it said it took 72 hours to achieve full strength.

Ditto on the summer install. I just put my second set on my second CTD this past summer. No problems as of yet. I'm sure surface temp would have a lot to do with the adhesion to the door. Not sure what I have, Auto Ventshade I think, but they're the ones from Geno's. I use them mainly in the summer so that when I park it I can crack the windows a little for some airflow without fear of rain. Was not a big concern here in Texas this past summer but these things have a way of biting me. Try again in the summer or at least when the ambient temp is 60°F or better. Your mileage may vary.

I have a set which has been on for over a year, no problems. If you can't install them in the winter, they should not sell them in the winter. I would call the vendor, if no satisfaction, then I would call the mfg. bg

I had the same thing happen to my 3500 Chevy a couple of years ago.

I installed them in Febuary. It was a mild day but cooled down to about 30F that evening.
Left the driveway that night and one blew off. A few cuss words later, I found the darn thing in the ditch and noticed the 3M tape had drawn and felt stiff. I pulled them off and put them on later that summer with new tape and had no problems.

My Ram has had no problems with these. I did the install this past summer also.

My guess is that this is the wrong time of year to do anything outside the truck with 3M tape.

Tell Geno`s what happened or contact Ventviser and tell them what happened.

They`ll send you out another set.

I have a pair made by autoventshade which fit inside the window channel-no adhesive. I like these much better. . cleaner look and no worry about tape. I don't know if they are made any more, I rarely see them, but if you find some they work real well.

dmurdock, that style is no longer available. The ventvisors on my 01 have also been on my 98 and my 99. I was careful about pulling them off, actually trimming with a razorblade, retaped them and they are on too stay. I agree that temperature is the important part for adhesion. The hotter the better. BTW,these are OEM accessory and are made by ventshade.

You may want to look at a set from Weathertech. They mount in the channel with no tape needed. They are a few more bananas, but worth it in my opinion. I have a set on my 98 and my grandfather has a set on his Phord Van. We both love them. I think I got them from J. C. Whitney.
