Looking very seriously at the Motorola Droid as my next phone. Wondering if anyone is using it yet and what do you think?

I don't plan to get one until after the first of the year, but I am researching now. They usually have sales around Christmas so I am waiting to see if the prices come down, plus we are getting a new Verizon tower near us in January to improve reception.

Thanks for any input.

Radshooter,

I went to get one yesterday but found out I am not eligible for an upgrade until Jan. Anyhow, my wife ended up getting one and all I can say is that this phone rocks!!

The call clarity is much better than our current LG phones, the net is extremely fast on the 3G network (we live in a rural area), and the apps for this phone are unbelievable! From the blogs I have been reading about this phone, some people have complained about the camera being too slow? but otherwise I haven't read any other negative comments.

PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks Paul. I will probably wait until February to do anything, because we are getting more VZ towers in our area by then. Right now the coverage is kinda sketchy but doable. I may touch bases with you then to see if it is still a thumbs up and what problems you have had.

Thanks again... ...

I have the Droid. The took my LG Touch (which I just renewed and got in July) as a lost or stolen, gave me the one year contract price and got the $100 rebate/gift card thingy. My total was around $270, and didn't extend my contract. I'm no fan of AT&T and their "less bars in more places. " Verizon's coverage (especially out west) far surpasses anything available and I'll *never* switch.

The Droid itself is amazing. Whether it's an Iphone killer remains to be seen, I don't think it will be. I much prefer it to any Iphone I've used.

In response to an email, Motorola spokesperson Juli Burda told Phone Scoop that Motorola is planning an over-the-air software update to make improvements to the Droid's camera. She said, "With Droid, and with the rest of our growing portfolio of Android-based devices, we will continue to evolve and improve the overall consumer experience with periodic software updates. The feedback we've been hearing on the Droid camera is one of those items that will be addressed permanently with an upcoming OTA software update. The advanced technology of the Droid means customers will only have to accept the download to their phones for continued use and enjoyment of this feature packed Android phone. "

I am going to hang on to my LG Dare for a lil bit longer as the Droid sure seems like a home run but I have a feeling that the new processor that is debuting in the Droid is juuust the tip of the iceberg as to what is coming.

Do I wait ... mebeh ... do I have to anyhow? yup as my new every 2 is not quite there yet. My Curent data plan is 15. 00 a month unlimited. that is a serious deal. the droid under VzW's new suck the wallet dry clause states you need the same plan for 60. 00 something a month for the droid alone LOL ... yeah about that
