Sorry, above should say 12/29/11

For anyone that's interested. Vt Rt 107, between Stockbridge and Bethel, is scheduled to reopen next Thurs, Dec 29th. Approx 7 miles of roadway running alongside the White River was almost completely washed away during the Hurricane Irene weekend floods in late August. This is the last portion of state highways that has not been open to traffic yet!

Pretty incredible that nearly 500 miles of damaged roadways have been rebuilt in just 4 months, including I think about 70 bridges. Shows what can be done when they really want to.

I liked the small town Road Manager interviewed on TV. He said "Well, the river was over there. We're going to put it back there. " When asked by the reporter about getting State Permits for the work he replied "We'll worry about those after we're done!!"

Merry Christmas to all & Happy New Year.
