So its 10 - 15 below for about a week now. My 1999 is in the garage at night and sets out all day. Let truck warm up for 10 minutes as it was on a timer and was plugged in for 3 hrs. Drove home tonight pulled in garage got out could smell oil on exhaust. looked underneath sure enough oil dripping down. Go under truck oil everywhere look under hood oil behind and rearward of power steering pump but its not power steering fluid I double checked. It is not squirting out any place i can see. Also continues to drip for quite a while after being shut down. Not very much easy access to the block on this side. I still have oil pressure by the gauge. Please give me your best ideas. thanks for any help.

I'm thinking that it could be the seal between the PS pump and the Vaccum pump. They have a repair kit now (Geno's sells them). ALso there is the oil supply (braided line) that goes into the bottom of the Vaccum pump, check there too. Do a search on TDR for Vaccum pump oil leak etc, lot of info.

Can you tell where it is actually leaking from through the mess?

I agree with "J" I had that exact problem quite some time ago and I ordered the seal kit and all is well. It is not an easy job and will require some %$#@%%^ language to assist in replacing it.

Good luck

I have a seal kit with the how to DVD if you need it. I got a couple extra sets of seals with the kit and you can have a set. Heck I would even help with the install if you want to give it a try.

JR2

I really appreciate all the wisdom so its a seal or a hose as we thought? JR 2 as much as I would like to do it ourselves( also you would also be in a position to do yours and I would of course help you if you would have helped me) it seems like a major job just to get to the problem and the time to do it as we talked about. I,m already schedule with Anchorage Dodge so I will let them do it. They said that they are all backed up because of the cold but i will get my turn. My youngest stepson who is somewhat of a gearhead has gotten married and has a 2 1/2 month old baby since we last talked and lives in the valley(Wasilla) has a extra car I can use. You know how those valley folks are they love to have a extra junker sitting around for horsetrading etc. Also I,m a GRANDPA now. Anyway just so you know when it happens to you I lost 3qts of oil very fast. My bet is its the hose But? Any how thanks for the help guys and stay warm 15 below here now. Happy New Year
