How to clean out nv4500?

Hello, This might be a stupid question but here it goes anyway. Will parts cleaning solvent hurt the rear seal in a nv5400 if i use it to rinse out the transmission? I pulled it out last night to put a new clutch in and everything is covered in a thick layer of what appears to be dust that came in from the shift tower.

Are you going to change the seal? If not, call your local transmission shop and ask what they use.

I would hate to have that solvent attack that seal.

The only way I would clean it is to put fresh oil in it, run it 1000 miles, and then put more fresh oil back in it. I don't think solvent is a good idea.

Thanks for the help,

I ended up pulling the top cover and wrapping the gears with plastic. Then i plugged the access to the back side of the transmission as well. i used solvent to wash the shift rail assy and rinse the case down. Then i sprayed everything down with transmition fluid and put it all back together. I plan on changing the fluid again as soon as more comes from quad 4x4.

I will post back if it blows up or starts leaking.
