I don't want to mess with a tuner the power is actually OK, its I was expecting more? than what it is. You must have been through the Circle city the roads are worse than when our B 52's laid down a "Carpet Bombing" run in South East Asia.

I believe ALL government inspectors and others who approve and inspect road work should have no less than a 4x4 1 ton, unloaded, issued to them.

Been all over The USA over the years and just locally: several people lined up on the side of the road with blowouts from a tire eating pot hole to seeing a V8 monster trike go "flying" over a onramp road bump (expansive soil and/or heat expansion heaving). Laughed for a second (the fellow keeping control while 3' above the seat while using 3 lanes WAS impressive) till I caught air over the same bump in a 1 ton.

I should stop here before this gets moved to politics over the neglect of infrastructure that made The U.S.A. a Superpower...

Now that I really haven't a need to go into indy the roads aren't nearly as riddled with "REVERSE or INVERTED SPEED BUMPS" Hwy 231 was just Chip Sealed, besides being a mess it took them forever to get it done 10 miles from town to State Rd 36 A WEEK??? They turned East towards Rockville who knows how long that stretch will take?

Who did you talk to at MADS, and when? The Touch has supported 13+ C&C trucks since its release in 2014.

The Touch specifically advertises 13+ C&C trucks.

Support for MY17 C&C trucks was released on Nov 28th 2016.

For Big's use, I would recommend a MM3 and a VERY mild custom tune thou. It would be easy to get a little more power and less EGR, without sacrificing anything.

Just looked at the LAST email I DIDNT get an answer from them dated 09/04/18 where I didnt get an answer. I called the MADS service desk referenced in a thread in the TDR, gave them my MY 2017 5500 C&C and was told no.

I just looked at the MADS website AND now they have MY 2013 to MY 2016 C&Cs, but MY 2017+.

So, I did give the disclaimer my info wasn't current. Also, I had TWO ignored emails directly to MADS asking them about my truck and no response. I called the MAFS help desk about another of my former trucks and casually asked and got no for MY17.

If MADS website is not current, they are losing business, at least they lost mine. I had MADS on three previous trucks with MADS programmers. so know the used to have good products, current website, AND good customer service.

EDIT: Just noticed MADS website doesn't list 2017+ Pickups either... That because of the module security or whatever called?

Cheers, Ron

Ron,

Look at the news link, as that’s is where the most current info is posted.

You will see that 13+ C&C has been supported since the release of the Touch in 2014, and as I stated above MY17 has been supported since Nov 28th of 2016.

Your truck is certainly supported and has been for nearly 3 years.

Thanks, but doesn't help or matter now. They ignored two emails, gave me bad info on the phone. But I will defer commenting on MADS, not my practice to give them a black eye.

Still, I think they should update their website, some like to read current application MYs when they have them broken out like they do.

EDIT: FYI: The Diesel Domination (rebadged Dr Performance module) I did buy for my 2017 5500 didn't have C&Cs omitted from application on website, so I purchased, installed it, AND it worked. When I gave positive rating and personal email, they said they were getting CELs on C&Cs. They posted onsite the exclusion, but I kept it as it works great on mine.

I'm a happy trucker in the end, which is what matters.

Thanks for the Info.

Ron

Had to hunt down reason for using red dye if needed, obviously not recent pictures but was last winter its going to be a hike if you run short of fuel
Daughters horse barn/boarding stable & fields turned to use as alfalfa growing.

My cousin has a big operation, he no longer keeps on and off road fuel on the farm. He runs highway fuel in everything now and files for the federal excise tax. This can be done at the end of the year when you file or quarterly. Another advantage is Less tanks and less fuel sitting around for shorter intervals.

I paid $2.65 per Gal for regular diesel yesterday, I can't see that using Dyed and going the extra to obtain it is going to be worth the effort & I'm not paying for a fuel truck to haul it to the house or the field to fill up. Just wondering about the rocket exhaust system on the truck, new tractor or the MD tractor.

Im sorry for knowing much about the 2014 I can't really say to much about it BECAUSE I DONT KNOW :D I didn't get to have input when it was ordered for my use in Montana and after being stranded in the middle of nowhere I didn't have much desire to get involved with it. Until Monday Ive been left with NO time to investigate any of the specs other than it being a 2014 CC 5500 Laramie. Now that my only task in my day is to wake up, breath and scratch ill need to get with it on the truck.

The truck is absolutely gorgeous, aluminum rims the interior makes my Stock 04.5 SLT (except the trans) look shabby in comparison its a lot more quiet than the 04. I cant tell about MPG the difference between MT & IN is immense I usually keep track of MPG so I can tell if something may be going south mechanically. Ill be needing this truck more now that I'm working for the family hauling equipment around for a new endeavor growing alfalfa for our livestock, Daughters & Granddaughters horses to Cross Country jumping events.
I’ve had 3,000 more lbs on my drive axle than what your entire GVWR was on your 2004.5....

The 4500’s and 5500’s are real turdzzzzzz
As said previously.....apples to oranges.

Even though my 04.5 2500 and 3500 C&C are manuals, and I also have to mention the first C&C trucks were only tuned for 305HP, its like night and day between the two. In stock form, my C&C has torque but lacks the HP feel as my (brothers now) 04.5 has. Its partially lower HP, but its also tuned way different than a grocery getter. Once I installed EFILive it woke up, it feels and responds like the 04.5. It is a heavier truck, but I can compare the 04.5 at GCW of 12,000 lbs to the empty the C&C around 10,000 lbs. With EFILive you dont have to delete the truck, but will get rid of that weird sluggish feel that doesn't seem normal after driving the 04.5.

Take care using RED, in the past it was the same as Diesel. Todays ULSD has a lot of additives in it to keep the fuel system in working order.

So we have been told at the CMEP Tour lately.

Ozzy, By 2014 the EPA has required all NONROAD Diesel fuel to be ULSD that is sold in the US. This is what everyone calls RED DYE fuel. This diesel fuel does not have any road tax added to the cost of the fuel so, red dye is added to the ULSD fuel. Here is part of the fuel standard from the EPA for ON-Highway and NONROAD Diesel. The written document is several pages long and does take a lawyer to understand some of the verbiage in the act.
This is from the EPA act and is on the federal data base for the EPA:

PART 80—REGULATION OF FUELS AND FUEL ADDITIVES

Subpart I—Motor Vehicle Diesel Fuel; Nonroad, Locomotive, and Marine Diesel Fuel; and ECA Marine Fuel

§80.501 What fuel is subject to the provisions of this subpart?
(a) Included fuel and additives. The provisions of this subpart apply to the following fuels and additives except as specified in paragraph (b) of this section:

(1) Motor vehicle diesel fuel.

(2) Nonroad, locomotive, or marine diesel fuel.

(3) Diesel fuel additives.

(4) Heating oil.

(5) ECA marine fuel.

(6) Other distillate fuels.

§80.520 What are the standards and dye requirements for motor vehicle diesel fuel?
(a) Standards. All motor vehicle diesel fuel is subject to the following per-gallon standards:

(1) Sulfur content. 15 parts per million (ppm) maximum, except as provided in paragraph (c) of this section;

(2) Cetane index and aromatic content. (i) A minimum cetane index of 40; or

(ii) A maximum aromatic content of 35 volume percent.

(b) Dye requirements. (1) All motor vehicle diesel fuel shall be free of visible evidence of dye solvent red 164 (which has a characteristic red color in diesel fuel), except for motor vehicle diesel fuel that is used in a manner that is tax exempt under section 4082 of the Internal Revenue Code. All motor vehicle diesel fuel shall be free of yellow solvent 124.

And for refineries and pipelines this is their requirements. From June 1, 2014 and beyond, NRLM diesel fuel produced by a transmix processor and a pipeline facility that produces diesel fuel from transmix is subject to the standards of §80.510(c).

What all this means is the fuel available in today's market should be the same except if it is dyed for nonroad use or on highway use.

Thanks Jim, that's definitely different then in Europe, ours is still Basic without any Additive.

We are not allowed to use Fuel Oil in any Equipment except Power Generators.
So nobody is using it is for Heating only now.
