I wonder why you don't see the Navistar in marine applications. The Duramax is being put in marine service now, but I haven't seen any in working boats. Working boats run the Cummins, Detroit and CAT. Some of the newer yachts are running MAN engines from Germany. Mercedes engines are used alot in fire pump and generator applications onboard the larger ships but the engineers on the larger ships are not very fond of the V engines. They like inline power plants.
 
I believe Mercury Marine is using Navistar. Some how Cummins is tied in with Mercury Marine and one of the training engines I saw was a Navistar, but I do not know enough about them to tell you what it was other than a V-8. I swore off V-8's and V-6's years ago, they give me stomach cramps.
