Here I am

VERY interesting way to run WVO/diesel with one tank

Burning bio in a heater

One state government out of control

I just saw this on eBay.

Since the auction ends soon - here is the seller's eBay storefront.

The German-English translation is pretty rough, but you can get the idea by reading the description.

Here's my take on things:

Traditional WVO/petroleum-diesel systems require valves, two tanks, heat exchangers and lengthy runs of hose all over the place. With this device, you can get rid of a lot of that AND speed up the engine/coolant warmup times.

Since the WVO/petrol-diesel mix (or dang near straight WVO in warmer ambient temps... ) runs through this thermostatically controlled unit and is heated by a glow plug until the engine warms up and can provide hot coolant (just like the VW TDIs have had for years... ), you allegedly don't need to heat the entire tank of WVO/petrol-diesel mix with a heat exchanger like you would in traditional WVO setups.

Even if you don't run WVO, I could see this device being used in custom or retrofit applications where the OEM setup has a substandard fuel heater and the fuel system becomes prone to gelling. This also has the potential to have a much higher flow-rate than an OEM fuel heater, so it could work for HP applications.

I have no connection to the seller and personally have never run WVO in a diesel engine (yet! :) ) - so I have no vested interest in promoting this.

Cheers,

Matt

You are still pushing cools wvo through the injesters when you start. This will coke them. You can run straight wvo with no heat. The truck will start and run fine as long as it is liquid. But injector cokeing will result after some time.

coking

Hello SEmerson

Thanks for your opinion

HERES MINE

Yes it will coke the injectors (svo) but so will diesel #2 and all the other forms of diesel . so whats your point? so if you want a clean injectors in your truck the best place to put them would be the glove box.

yes I run veg oil in my truck, heated, filtered to 5 micron. also filtered thru a fass filtering system and heated more the its to the ip pump where its pumped to 20,000 psi this alone will cause heat then its off to the injectors in the heads once more very hot right.

the fact that the veg oil is cold is not the point the point is the fuel is cold that is what causes coking but remember the amount of fuel there is about a 1/2 pint or less and the heat is there as soon as you start the engine it will warm up fast dont belive me start the engine and grab the injuctor line and feel it for yourself.

this coking info is only one thing the big oil companys use to keep people from using veg oil. refinerys will tell you that the diesel fuel they make is great right but then they have to put additives in it so it lubes the pumps and injectors, if any thing goes bad they blame the Additive Co then the Additive Co blames the Refinery.

I look at injectors as wear parts the way they force fluid thru the holes will wear on them, yes they cost a lot, no there is nothing i can do about that.

if one wants to run any engine then you will be hurting it and thats the way it is.

IF YOU WANT TO RUN VEG OIL IN YOUR ENGINE THATS GREAT

IF YOU DONT WANT TO RUN VEG OIL IN YOUR TRUCK THATS GREAT ALSO

this is my opinion if you feel its wrong thats fine its only an opinion right

and its america so i can voice it. God bless America

That same principle can be applied to the device I mentioned. The total mass this device is heating with TWO glow plugs is very minimal. The temperature rise necessary to get things where they need to be (liquid instead of solid) is also very limited.

I definitely think it could work, but you'd have to sit down and think about how to plumb things up... and possibly even run the WVO glow plugs for a bit before firing off the lift pump (if equipped... ) so that you end up with liquid fuel. :)

Matt

glow plugs

sure you might be able to tap the rail and thread the glow plugs in and then it will heat up the veg oil in the rail the heat will transfur in the oil. but i think just pluging it in at night will keep the oil warm and that is all you need to do,

if you do get coking on the injectors at start up and you will, bringing the engine up to norm operating temp before shuting it off will help burn off the coking also a timing adjustment and maybe some methenol /water injection will help clean the injectors also the water in there will turn to steam and thats a great way to clean stuff

the best thing is to try if it will work then really thats all that needs to be done the diesel engine is a great engine and i think it will become even better with time.

try what ever you think is right. the common sence thing will work.
