I had posted a while back concerning ventvisors. I was looking for the type that fit into the window channel, not the kind that stuck on with 3M tape. Someone brought up the WeatherTech brand, which seemed just what I was looking for.

However, I stopped by a local truck accessory shop in Hopewell where I got my tonneau & side steps to see if he could get them and he showed me some that were even better,IMO. They are made by EGR from Australia. They fit great in the window channel without causing any binding of the window movement (I had heard that is why VentShade went to using stick-on method) and they go all the way down to the bottom of the front corner, which keeps water from coming in down by the mirror mount.

I am well pleased with the quality of this product and it is much nicer looking than the "Stick-On Look" (IMO). The price was $45 a pair for the front side windows only. (none availible for the quarter windows)

I used the type that mounted in the window channel on my 98 ram. The look was good but they are a hand full in cold climates. What happen to mine was that condensation formed between the glass and plastic overnight and the window was froze in-place the next morning. It took about 15/20 minutes each morning until the cab was warm enough before I was able to open the windows

QUESTION ??

On my 95 Dodge Ram, I have the Ventshades that when they first came out they had the ones that went under the rubber,{ stick-on method }, and looked good. But I broke one of mine, and cannot find them any were. Once I took the old one out the rubber doesn't fit right now, will they work with the rubber being messed up. My question is are you saying that they fit in the channel? Do they come all the way down to the mirror mount, and what keeps them in place?

Picture of rubber.

I had this style on my 94 and loved the look, never had a problem with window freezing shut. I've been looking for a company that still made them, thanks. I do not like the look of the stick on.

You can get the same style down at your local Dodge dealer for about 60 bones. I checked them out on a friends truck, they look good and are genuine Mopar parts. :D

Pics

I don't have a digital camera yet, but a freind at work said he would bring his in tomarrow and he will take a few pics so I can post them.

Snake:

They slide up in between the metal of the door and the window channel. They run from the top rear corner, all the way down past the mirror mount to the bottom front corner. Their shape holds them in place. You kinda bow them to get them in.

Maybe the pics will help. Stay Tuned... ... ...

OOPS!... . I have made an error

They DO NOT fit between the metal and rubber. They do fit in the window channel. That's what happens when I try to explain things using my memory! Sorry fellas.

I have seen a lot of those start paint peeling on the doors, of course mostof those were Chevy that were probably born with paint issues.

One of the NW BOMBers up at BD Dyno Days last October had taken a set of stickon Ventvisor® and stick them in the door frame and begind the rubber. They fit well and looked good.

I thought about buying a set of weathertech and mounting them betwwen the rubber and door frame. I also like them because the tint is less and that huge a-pillar is already a huge blind spot. Same reason I don't like pillar mount gauge setups.

My neighbor has Ventvisor® stickons and they look great. They are painted on the outside the same color as the pickup. shh Its a Ford

I like and have the vent visor ones. I think the Mopar ones are the same only more money. These are low profile and hard to notice unless you look close. Blend in fairly well. -- dont like most the stick on ones because the stick out too much. Not very low profile or stealthy. Some are very ugly looking.

You know.....that opinion thing.....

EMDDIESEL:

My Dad has the adhesive ones on his black Std cab 2500 V-10 and they look good. But, on a lighter colored Quad Cabs( with the dark tinted quarter window, which lines up with the black trim on the door, which lines up with the top of the window), the stick-ons kinda look like an after thought. (Please don't take offense,... ... ... . I may be watching too much Martha Stewart) :p

JohnE:

The only thing about putting the stick-on type between the metal & rubber is the chance of causing the window to bind and shortening the life of the window motor.

Anyway, I like em and I guess it don't matter who makes em as long as they do the job. :D :D :D

Please read edit in previous post

Weather Tech

This is my first post. Glad to be here and able

give back info, since I have been watching the

TDR website for months.

I installed the Weather Tech Ventvisors 2 weeks

ago. Install was a snap and instructs were easy

to follow. I am quite pleased. :D :D :D

A side bennie, wind noise is down a few notches.

I have the WeatherTech brand, my buddy Stack'd 'n' Jack'd found them for me, we'd been looking for a set like his, he has the older version VentVisors, and they're great.

Anyway, these new WeatherTech visors have a very thin edge on the part that fits into the window channel, between the steel and the rubber, and they won't cause the windows to bind. I love them! They look and work great !

The weathertech appears to be identical to the EGR

I had to walk outside to double check. Identical coverage and installation position. $44. 95 from J. C. Whitney. The Weathertechs might be a lighter tint and easier to see through.
