will us 03 boys be able to put an 04 holest vgt turbo on an 03?

if the o4 boys w/ egr and vgt get that kind of whislte (6L), call me crazy, i will have to have one. egr dont scare me so much.

i have talked with guys putting boxes on trucks w/ vgt they say that vgt can produce enough boost to get our trucks way up their in hp before having to spend 1600 on a new turbo.

opinons, comments, thoughts, impressions wanted

I would definitely be interested in upgrading to the Holset VGT turbo if the conversion was possible. Someone out there has to have some info.

correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't ford uses the crappy "moving vain" type variable turbo, while cummins will use the collar ?

SO, if they (ford people) are using the crappy vain turbo and getting great results, than we should be be able to go crazy with the better type turbo , right?

I'll be REALLY surprised if you see the VGT turbo in the Dodge application. A group of us toured the cummins engineering facility last summer and the engineer that toured us through the place said that they could do EGR without the VGT turbo and that the VGT turbo represented an extra $2,000 in cost.

there is always the aftermarket... banks used them holset vgt 55 or 60 [i can't remember] on their sidewinder project, so they have now know how on it... , or then there is them trick ultra light ball bearing turbos, and i know of a low speed compound turbo by garrett [read it in a sport compact magazing] that has 2 compressors mounted in a single housing being driven by 1 turbine... i think they quoted like 60psi boost at 70,000 rpm turbo speed [i can't find the issue to verify it]
