seafish not saying that it is bad just rather limited. Other controler will allow Adjustability of the exhaust brake( how agressive it comes on). Fleece as far as I know not adjustable as far as veins position under boost.( pre commanded) and is not a true stand alone. It relies on truck ecm for control. Other system uses its own boost sensor aka map signal to control vein position and can be adjusted to move the vein at different distances based on boost pressure. Post a copy of instructions for the fleece, I called them to ask questions and must have got the new guy? He couldnt tell me much about how it operated and said he didnt know the lead time if I wanted to purchase one?? He said he just sold the last one today?? kinda a bad customer service first impression.
PetersonM, I don't know where you got your info from, and I am NOT saying that the other unit you are looking at is not as good or better then the Fleece, but it seems as if you are misinformed about what the Fleece can do and how it operates. While I agree that Fleece customer service is not the most forthcoming on the technical details of how the controller works, I thbink that is mostly due to their being the first to market with such a controller and a desire not to give away proprietary information. I DO know that it is a true standalone controller, using only the HE351ve's existing sensors, NOT the trucks ECM for vein control...furthermore, their software DOES allow adjustability of ultimate exhaust brake strength, though not in real time...it has to be connected to a PC laptop for those parameters to be adjusted, then remembers the settings) The same software also allows for different vein positions, thus boost curves, to be programmed based on what the driver wants from the readings of same sensors. Furthermore, the vein position IS real time variable within a roughly 20% range to allow for actual in cab adjustment while driving. Turn the knob one way for more aggressive boost, turn it the other way for less aggressive boost with concordant less drive pressure. IMHO, all in all it seems to be quite a versatile and robust unit, as long as one is willing to spend some time with a laptop programming it for specific truck and driving habits, though MOST people use it just fine preprogammmed out of the box. In fact, before I bought the FLeece, I read ALOT on different forums about different electronic controller for the HE351ve and the they are all going to operate mostly the same way. That being said, one can design and build physical actutators for the HE351ve that do a realtively good job of controling the turbo, but do not have near the adjustability of the Fleece electronic controller. The Fleece controllers ARE relatively expensive, but I got my set-up barely used for $400 so I really can't complain about that either. Of course, I have NOT hooked it all up yet (not enough time, other life, or should I say wife, priorities) to trully know how it functions, but I am relatively sure it will operate as described. Furthermore, while I agree with you that their CS is not the friendliest in the industry, I have read and seen enough about them to know that they will stand behind their products and more importantly BE AROUND to stand behind their products.
