Okay,I tried the search thing, bug deflector, loose bracket, wheel weights. Is there a slick fix for a vibrating drivers side mirrior [Glass only]

Had a '94 and it was back to the dealer numerous times to fix the same problem. Dealer said that DC was aware of the problem and was coming out with a new deisgn. This truck was replaced with a '98. 5 and it has different mirrors. Guess what, still the same problem. Some members posted that there is a bracket inside that is the main problem. Do not know the subject so can not help on the search for it. Some members has said that they got tired of the dealer runaround and purchased aftermarket mirrors.

Is it safe to assume you have the bug shield set installed? I seem to remember reading a TSB that claims the bug deflector over the headlamp is the culprit. I know my driver side mirror does the same and I do have the full deflector set installed. In fact, I don't think anyone who has complained about it, has NOT had the deflectors installed. Interestingly enough, the deflector listed in the accessories booklet for the 2002 specifically mentions that the new design reduces mirror vibration. Just my 2 cents.

Mine was really bad when I got the truck (98'). DC "fixed" it, and it is much better, but never rock solid.

I have noticed lately that its slowly going back to how it was...

Guess one day I'll have to fix it again.

Is the mirror loose (as when you touch it) or does it just vibrate? If it's vibrating you can try sticking some self adhesive wheel weights on the back side of the mirror. This may change the resonance frequency of the mirror enough to get it to stop. If it makes it worse, either add more weight, or take them off and suffer (i. e. call the dealer)

If it's loose, you may be able to take the mirror apart and find a loose screw or something else, my 97 had a screw that never quite got tightened all the way, someone's torque screwdriver must have been off that day. .

Had a bug shield that only went on the hood of the '94. That was removed and it helped in the vibration deparment but did not fix it. Do not have anything on the '98. 5 as of yet but still have the vibration. Did purchase the complete bug shield deflector, hood and fenders, but have not installed as of this date. Does anyone know if this will help or not in this problem?
