My truck has developed a vibration starting at around 60mph and higher. Doesn't matter whether I am towing or not. It appears to come from the whole truck, and not just in the steering.

If I stay below that it goes away.

I am going to have the tire balance checked this weekend, or maybe a broken belt, but if that checks out, any other ideas? Bad U joint maybe?

If you can find a shop that will do it, have them check your wheel balance with them mounted on the truck. In the process they could look for anything abnormal in the front end or drive line.

I have checked all of the front end components and they are tight.

I don't know of anywhere that balances on the car.

Jack up the truck and spin the wheels by hand. If there's a broken belt you will likely be able to see it. Also look and see if you have a bent wheel when checking for a belt. I've heard of folks not looking and lightly bumping a tire on these trucks and bending a wheel. (the stock steel wheels aren't terribly strong).

Since it isn't rattling the wheel it's likely (but not certainly) on the rear.
