I 've done a search and I didn't find anything about vibration at an idle so I figured I would ask you guys here on TDR.

I ONLY have vibration at an idle. It doesn't matter if I'm in drive with brake on, or park. It's at about 800 RPM's it's coming from the passenger side. If I just barely touch the throttle it goes away around 1000 rpm's. then I can here the cummins idling. It's driving me crazy. If I pull up to a drive through and not having to turn the truck off with the 3rd gen. but with the vibration so bad I have to turn the truck off just to hear them.

when I'm sitting there idling thats all I here is the vibration and not the engine.

Does anyone have this problem? any ideas on how to fix it?

thanks in advance.

Something is definetly loose. Check your turbo exhaust elbow clamps. Mine were on there pretty tight, but when I did some work on the elbow I found the nuts had vibrated loose after just a couple days. I installed nylon lock nuts as jam-nuts after that.

Chances are, something is loose.

I also have a vibration at idle, but it sounds like it's different from yours. My vibration is at the steering column. Vibration is so bad that it rattles my keys -- very very irritating. I am going to have my dealer check it out at the same time they install my tow mirrors.

Stephen: A little off the main subject post, but installing tow mirrors is a super easy task. I sure would not pay the dealership to do it, unless it's goin to be a freebie, like your truck came in without them, I done mine about a month ago, took about 45 minutes to a hour to switch out the pwr/heated standard mirrors and install the pwr/heated tow mirrors. The dealership I use charges $72. 00 bucks per hr, for labor. JMO!:D

Mine has done it. Sounded like it was comming from the middle of the dash. From reading a different post the vibs were comming from the auto dip stick tube. Take a look (if u have a auto) at it while the vib it at its worse and see if that thing is vibrating like a tuning fork? Or if it's touching anything close to the firewall - there might be the problem & easy fix. A cable tie or two might do.

good luck

I had a vibration at idle on my 03. The ATF dipstick was rubbing against the heater hose coming from the firewall. I put a piece of foam in between the two and that fixed the problem. I took it to the dealer later and they made some adjustments. No vibrations.
