Vibration at idle........

I have noted a vibration at idle that seems to be coming either from the engine compartment, or under the dash. It's not real loud, and usually is more noteable when it warms up. If I give her a little throttle, it goes away. I may take her to the dealer to see if they can find it. It has been there since she was new, and I was waiting to see if it would get better/worse, or go away. It has been none of the above, it just remains. Any ideas? Sarge

I'd bet it's normal. These things will vibrate at idle. Mine does, to varying degrees depending on ambient conditions and ECT. It's a diesel. I mean, ever notice how much one of the big rigs vibrates at idle?

Mine too. It sometimes sounds like a wire is vibrating against something. It also sounds like it has one lifter noisier than the rest at times. Probably normal.

You may want to check the injectors.

There has been a few with idle issues that have found injector hold downs loose. It will get worse till it gets to a knock.

Vibration at Idle

So far I have only noticed a slight vibration at idle felt through the steering wheel. Will the TSB on replacing the power steering hose that is weighted cure this. It's not all that bad, just wondering if it will get worse with time. Giving a little throttle, it goes away all together.

At idle my steering wheel vibrates bad enough to "tickle". I am hoping the weighted power steering hose will reduce it.

I already have the weight on the power steering hose. This isn't bad, just audible. Thats why i'm not crazy about taking her to some dealer and having who knows who tear my truck up. At the moment, it's just not that big of an issue... ..... Sarge

Sarge if it's something you can live with, well I know what your sayings. There's some pretty good techs out there,but also some that might create more vibrations or noise's than what you started with.

Try this

I had the same thing and it was driving me nuts so I started exploring and I found that if I held the trans dip stick and the A/C lines next to the fire wall it goes away. So what I did was I took a couple heavy duty zip ties and I put pressure on them and tied them together then get back in you truck and it's 90% better. So now I have to zip ties under the hood holding thing together. . Nice huh. Well the truck is in the dealer getting the recalls done so I told them to check into it and let me know.
